Rules & Regulations

SCCC conducts its events under AusCycling regulations and policies. It is the responsibility of riders to be familiar with those rules, which can be found at the AusCycling website. Some key AusCycling regulations/policies include:

  • Code of Conduct

  • Inclusion Policy Statement

  • Technical Regulations - General

  • Technical Regulations - Road

  • Extreme Weather Policy

  • Concussion Policy

SCCC's road races are conducted on open roads, and hence riders must obey the road rules - such as riding to the left of the road, and riding no more than two abreast.

SCCC endeavours to provide courses that allow for uninterrupted and safe racing by way of traffic control, marshals and/or other measures at key points. It is important to obey any directions they may provide - including the displaying of a stop sign during a race.

The Conduct of SCCC Members

AusCycling's Code of Conduct includes the following principles:

  • Where racing and competition is genuine, and where the outcome is not affected by doping, race-fixing, illegal betting or other forms of cheating.

  • Where people show respect for others and their property to ensure no damage or deprivation is caused to either. Respect is defined as consideration for another’s physical and emotional well-being and possessions.

  • Where people show respect for others and their property to ensure no damage or deprivation is caused to either. Respect is defined as consideration for another’s physical and emotional well-being and possessions.

  • That is free from harassment. Harassment is defined as any action directed at an individual or group that creates a hostile, intimidating or offensive environment.

  • Which is a non-discriminatory environment, and which respects the right, dignity and worth of every human being, and (within the context of the activity), treats everyone equally regardless of gender, ethnic origin or religion.

Whether at an SCCC event or out on a training ride, we share roads and other facilities with the community. Always remember that as riders, volunteers and officials, we are representing our club and our sport to the broader community.

Being polite, courteous and understanding of the needs of local property owners and other road users goes a long way - irrespective of road rules or any permits/etc that may have been obtained by the club for an event.

Covid-19

SCCC is mindful of the health and well-being of competitors, spectators, volunteers, officials and the local community at events. Events will be conducted in line with any restrictions that may be in force by the Queensland Government, and reflective of any AusCycling policies.

Even if there are no Government restrictions in place, to support a healthy environment for athletes, officials, volunteers, spectators and the public the club requests that you do not attend if you have flu-like or other Covid-19 symptoms.
